I posted a TED talk a few weeks earlier, entitled “Can we eat to starve cancer?” in which Dr. William Li spoke on the anti-angiogenic approach to cancer treatment. In the field of oncology (i.e. the study of cancer) angiogenesis is the process by which the body creates blood vessels that feed tumors. Anti-angiogenesis describes anything that slows, stops or reverses this process. After a tumor reaches a certain size (about the size of a pen tip) it must be fed through a network of blood vessels or it will die.
