Here’s a new video produced by Dr. Michael Greger and nutritionfacts.org highlighting new studies showing that blueberry consumption may double the population of our cancer fighting immune cells. Also that the spices cardamom and black pepper may boost such activity.
Dr. Keith Block, who has dealt with late stage cancers for over 32 years and is considered by many to be the father of integrative cancer treatment, has stated:
Existing research doesn’t support the notion that specific foods can increase survival. However, there is considerable evidence that dietary patterns can make a significant difference for women fighting breast cancer.
While he refers to breast cancer I’m sure what he says applies to all types of cancer. What I believe he means is that one food can’t be plopped on top of a bad diet (high fat, high refined sugar, high refined carbohydrate, etc.) and compensate for all that to help manage the proliferation of late stage cancers. But it can be part of a healthy dietary pattern (healthy fats, healthy sweeteners, high unrefined carbohydrates, high plant foods, high fiber, etc.) that makes the patient’s biochemistry as non-supportive to cancer cell proliferation as possible.
