The cancer risk from CT scan radiation, especially for children (4 min. 14 sec. video)

My wife gets at least four quarterly CT scans done each year to monitor her stage 4 breast cancer. According to Dr. Michael Greger the radiation exposure during each CT scan is equivilent to about 400 regular x-rays. The risk for this procedure making her condition worse makes me tremendously uncomfortable and I’m now searching for answers as to anything we can do to lessen her risk and heal from the damaging effects of each CT scan.

In this video Dr. Greger talks about the special risk CT scans pose for young children. Cancers can take years to develop (over 5 to over 20 depending on the aggressiveness of the cancer). Unfortunately I don’t think that the information in this video is given to most parents prior to their children getting CT scans and I think it’s very important for them to know so that they can make informed choices with full knowledge of the risks and any other options they may have.
